Villa D - Estocolmo

Villa D es una vivienda unifamiliar situada al sudeste de Estocolmo, muy por encima del nivel de la calle en una parcela rocosa y escarpada que domina un hermoso paisaje. Dos criterios principales fueron considerados en la fase de diseño: a) el cliente deseaba acceder por la parte superior, y b) reducir todo lo posible la dificultosa modificación del terreno y los escombros resultantes. Se decidió entonces diseñar un volumen claramente definido que emerge de la roca con fuerza, creando un efecto dramático digno del sitio.

El resultado es una larga planta rectangular integrada a la roca en uno de sus extremos y volando en el otro, el de la fachada inclinada. Al acceder por la parte alta, el living, la cocina y el comedor están en la planta superior, con acceso a grandes terrazas; mientras que los dormitorios están en la planta baja. Una claraboya encima de la escalera hace luminoso y atractivo el acceso a la planta inferior. A la imponente fachada de dos plantas hacia la calle se opone un discreto contrafrente, de una sola planta, que mira hacia el bosque. La estructura resistente combina acero y madera. A las fachadas, revestidas con paneles de madera, se les ha dado un tono gris imitando los colores de la naturaleza circundante.

Rahel Belatech Lerdell fue nominada Arquitecta del Año tras recibir el premio "Det Stora Formpriset" (Gran Premio de Diseño), que otorga la revista Residence.

Rahel Belatchew Lerdell was appointed Architect of the Year by receiving 'Det Stora Formpriset' (Swedish for 'The Great Design Award') from Residence Magazine.

Nació en Etiopía en 1969 y se crió en Uppsala, Suecia. Luego de obtener un Master en Arquitectura de la Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture, en París, Rahel ejerció en París, Luxemburgo y Tokio. En el 2000 regresó a Suecia, al cabo de diez años trabajando fuera.

Rahel was born in Ethiopia in 1969, and grow up in Uppsala, Sweden. After receiving a Masters Degree in Architecture from Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris, Rahel worked as an architect in Paris, Luxemburg and Tokyo. After a decade of working abroad, she returned to Sweden in the year of 2000. Today Rahel runs her own architectural office 'RB Arkitektur', with both private and public clients. Rahel's architecture has attracted much attention in international media and has also been published in several architectural books

Villa D - Single family house, Stockholm, Sweden
Villa D is situated south-east of Stockholm, high above street-level, on a rocky and steep site that overlooks a beautiful surrounding.
Two main criteria were considered in the design phase – the client’s wish to access the highest point of the site, and an aim to limit the amount of blasted rock. We chose to design a clearly defined volume that shoots out from the rock, creating a dramatic effect worthy the site. The result is a long rectangular shaped plan, integrated into the rock on one end, cantilevered with an inclined gable on the other.
In order to fulfil the client’s wish of accessing the highest point of the site, living room, dining and kitchen areas are placed on the first floor with access to large terraces, while bedrooms are on the ground floor. A skylight stands above the staircase making the access to the first floor bright and inviting.
While the building has a dramatic 2-story façade facing the street, its opposite face presents a discreet single story turned towards a dense forest.
The structure of the building is a combined timbre and steel construction with facades clad in wooden panels. The panels have been given a grey tone as a way of borrowing the colours of the surrounding nature.
